About Stepantsminda (Kazbegi)

Kazbegi is a municipality located in the historical gorge ofMtskheta-Mtianeti region of Eastern Georgia. It has been inhabited since ancient times. Geography and climate

Kazbegi municipality is located in eastern Georgia, in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region and includes the territory of the historical region, the gorge. Its administrative center is Stepantsminda. It is bordered byDusheti Municipality to the southeast, Akhalgori Municipality to the south, Java Municipality to the west, and the Russian Federation to the north. The territory of the municipality is completely mountainous.
