10 films you should watch with the child

Cinema helps us better understand children. Ten films, which, according to psychologists, need to watch parents and everyone who raises children – from preschoolers to teenagers.

What films will help to understand what difficulties to go through growing children? Psychologist Linda Jones Rufer compiled a list of paintings that affect the topics of growing up, searching for himself and overcoming difficulties on the path of formation.

“Films are needed for both children and parents,” says Linda Ruer. – After viewing, try to discuss them together and find out what was especially touched, which seemed familiar and even sore. Perhaps this will help you make the right choice yourself and avoid mistakes “.

1. Cold heart (2013)

Age: from 6 years

About what: Anna, the princess of the fabulous kingdom, goes in search of the sister of Elsa, who, having given free rein to her emotions, accidentally laid out the Eternal Winter to the whole country. She has to convince her sister of her love and test her feelings for the chosen one.

What teaches: selflessness, the ability to understand and express your emotions, the ability to open to others, love.

2. Up (2009)

Age: 6-10 years old

About what: Seventy -year -old Karl, after the death of his wife, decides to fulfill her dream: go to the paradise waterfall in South America. He pouts hundreds of balloons that turn his house into airship. But together with him in the house is the Boyskout Russell, who by the will of fate becomes his companion on the journey.

What teaches: the ability to be friends, despite the difference in age, openness to new experience, new impressions, a positive image of old age.

3. Puzzle (2015)

Age: 10-11 years

About what: 11-year-old Riley becomes a teenager. Emotions that control her behavior (joy, sadness, anger, fear, disgust) cannot cope with new difficult experiences. They have to learn to interact again and create new memories together.

What teaches: the ability to understand yourself and your feelings, the ability to accept changes in life, responsibility for your actions.

4. Useful Mr. Fox (2009)

Age: 8-10 years old

About what: Fox Fox, together with his family, lives in a hole by the tree right under the side of farmers. Once Fox stole chickens, but then made his wife a promise to tie with this. But instincts make themselves felt. Fox decides to again rob the farmers, as a result of which he jeopardizes the whole family.

What teaches: the ability to control instincts and desires, the ability to act together, to be part of the team, to protect family values.

5. Peaceful warrior (2006)

Age: 12–13 years

About what: Young talented gymnast Dan Millman gets serious injury. The meaning of life is lost for him, it seems to him that all the years of training were spent in vain. However, he meets a mysterious mentor whom he calls Socrates. This meeting helps Dan rethink his life and find himself again.

What teaches: perseverance, determination and perseverance, wisdom, meaningful attitude to life, the ability to overcome disappointment.

6. Going into a detachment (1979)

Age: 12–13 years

About what: Four friends who have recently graduated from school are trying to achieve glory and success. Dave dreams of Italian culture and, contrary to the discontent of his father, seeks to become a bicycle man. However, visiting Italian athletes put him in place. Dave and his friends decide to create their own team to win the race.

What teaches: authenticity, honesty in relation to oneself, determination, discipline.

7. The kingdom of the full moon (2012)

Age: 14-15 years old

About what: Teenagers Sam and Susie fall in love with each other and decide to escape from parents. They are both of their own kind of outcasts and try to become happy together, away from adults who do not understand them and are not interested in their feelings. Local authorities, together with Boyskauts, manage to find children. But an attempt to separate them fails.

What teaches: honesty, authenticity, understanding of other people, their experiences and motives, the ability to build trusting relationships.

8. Society of Dead Poets (1989)

Age: 15-16 years

About what: A new literature teacher comes to the prestigious school for boys. He arouses in them an interest in poetry and life, recalling that life is fleeting and one must always strive for the most important. He revives the secret literary club “Society of Dead Poets”, which soon finds himself in the center of the scandal caused by the suicide of one of the students.

What teaches: courage, the ability to defend yourself and your interests, curiosity, desire for knowledge.

9. Adolescence (2014)

Age: 14-16 years old

About what: The film tells Mason’s life story, starting from the first day at school to the first day in college. The hero is growing, growing up, getting acquainted with the world of adults, reveals for himself love and sexual attraction. The film became the experiment of director Richard Linkleter: shooting lasted 12 years, and the leading actor grew up with his hero.

What teaches: the ability to make a choice, to realize its consequences, an understanding of the complexity of life and the surrounding world, introspection, understanding of oneself, your desires and motives.

10. Juno (2008)

Age: 15-17 years

About what: Sixteen -year -old Juno finds out that she is pregnant. Now she has a difficult choice in front of her: leave the child, give him to adoption or raise it.

What teaches: the ability to make a choice in difficult circumstances, a responsible attitude to life – his own and a stranger, self -confidence.
